North Ridge Wood: The Value of Fewer, Better Photographs

Home & Living · Burlington, VT

The seller

Ben runs North Ridge Wood, a one-man workshop turning out cutting boards, serving trays, and small furniture from Vermont hardwoods.

The challenge

Ben spent his first year on Suliit sending sales to a slow trickle. His products were excellent; his photographs were fine. Fine was the problem.

What changed

Two Saturdays with borrowed studio lighting, a white sweep background, and someone else to hold the pieces while he shot them. Every listing got three new photos: hero, in-use, and scale.

The result

Conversion rate on his best-selling walnut board went from 0.6% to 2.1% in the following month. Revenue tripled within the first quarter after the shoot.

In his words

"I could have run ads for a year and not moved sales as much as two Saturdays of photography did."
